I felt like having Ada Pradhaman. But then I did not have the readymade Ada and I did not have enough time to prepare them at home. So I decided to try it with Oats. It turned out to be yummy. So here goes the recipe.
Ingredients
Oats - 1/4 cup
Jaggery - 1/4 cup
Water - 1/2 cup
Coconut Milk - 1 1/2 cup
Cardamom powder - a pinch
For Garnishing
Cashew nuts
Raisins
Ghee - for frying the cashews and raisins
Preparation
Add the jaggery and water in a hard bottomed vessel. Let this boil for 2 minutes. Add the oats and let it boil for another 3 minutes. By this time the oats would have cooked. Add the coconut milk to the oats/jaggery mixture and combine it well. Add cardamom powder. Once it boils, switch off the stove.
Fry the cashews & raisins and garnish it on top of the oats pradhaman.
Oats Pradhaman is ready and Yummy!!!

Using oats in pradhaman sounds brilliant Ramya, did you use the quick cooking type oats...the pradhaman has worked out well, looks delicious :-)
Till date, I haven't used oats other than my breakfast. Soon will try this recipe...this sounds really interesting and different!
@usha - I used the traditional oats. But I guess you can use Quick cooking type oats also.
@ann - Initially I also used it only for breakfast...but now use it for this recipe and upma...
